Platform 10
Platform 10 is an immersive sound walk set within north London’s Parkland Walk – a green corridor following the abandoned Great Northern Railway line.
Following narrated instructions heard through headphones, participants take part in a transformative listening experience where binaural audio tricks the senses to create a ‘duality of presence’: the brain’s ability to split in two and feel like it’s in real and virtual realities at once. As listeners respond and walk in unison with the narrator, a parallel world of audio fiction unravels.
The project acts to reveal the changeable nature of our everyday realities and aims to inspire civic engagement. It consists of 12 narrated tracks layered with voices and sonic rhythms of the Parkland Walk while the script is inspired by a series of conversations that occurred over six months between myself and everyday users of the space.
